It's possible it's all been done, but that won't stop us creating and building and throwing more of ourselves into the melting pot.

I love when the breeze is cool,
lightly grazing your skin like hungry 
cattle in a field, the grass moist
and inviting, utterly satisfying.
There’s no blueness left,
and the sun takes a day off,
but the sky is layered with
clouds, consuming the horizon,
as if the theory of a flat world,
wasn’t completely crazy—
perhaps they were onto
something, digging deep
into thoughtful lines
of their own hopes and dreams.

But theories are meant to be disproved,
and he’s allowing the steps
of my scientific method to play out
with a failed hypothesis.

The road is lulling,
driving thoughts
over broken yellow
lines and solid white
lines. They capture you
into a trance of contentment
or depression, whichever
you tilt closer to on grey
days—

yesterday kisses you on the cheek,
while today rubs your arms
and someone whispers,
everything is fine
everything is fine-
with or without.
